Lahaul valley of Lahaul-Spiti district is separated from Kullu-Manali by Atal tunnel and Rohtang pass. Earlier before the tunnel, Rohtang pass was the only gateway to this Hindu Buddhist-dominated valley which used to remain cut off from the rest of the country for six months after snowfall on Rohtang pass. Atal tunnel, which was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on October 3, 2020, has provided almost year-round access to Lahaul without the need of going to Rohtang pass. Tourists can now reach Lahaul from Manali in just one hour.
Lahaul has so many beautiful places, temples, monasteries, rivers, hanging glaciers, high altitude lakes, high mountain passes and many more. The valley has a mix of landscapes similar to Manali and Ladakh. Driving on winding roads of the valley is full of thrill.
Lahaul valley tour package includes visit to district headquarters Keylong, beautiful Jispa and Darcha, holy town of Udaipur, famour monasteries and temples and a memorable drive on Manali-Keylong-Darcha and Keylong-Udaipur highways along the Chandra, Bhaga and Chandra-bhaga (Chenab) river. You will get to see beautiful view of the hanging glaciers on the towering peaks of the valley.
In Lahaul Valley Tour Package, you have an option to stay in a homestay and experience the local Lahauli culture and tradition.
Tourists can stay in hotel, guesthouse, homestay or in a camp (tent) in the valley. Camp stay is possible only in summer time (May to September). Tourists can also go for a short or long trek in the valley.
- Day 1: Delhi/chandigarh to Manali by Overnight Volvo bus Your once-in-a-lifetime tour to Lahaul Valley and Manali begins from Delhi (or Chandigarh). Today board your overnight deluxe AC Volvo bus from Delhi to Manali in the evening time. The Volvo shall reach Manali next morning. The journey is comfortable and the bus shall stop midway for meals and snacks. Another option is to take a Volvo from Chandigarh.
- Day 2: Manali Arrival Our driver shall pick you up from the Volvo bus stand. Before starting your high altitude trip to Lahaul valley, you need to be acclimatized at Manali to avoid serious health issues like AMS. Today you can explore the local sightseeing places and the markets. Visit Hidimba Devi Temple, Old Manali Club House, Vashisht temple, Buddhist monastery and Mall Road area. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel or camp in Manali.
- Day 3: Manali – Atal Tunnel – Lahaul After breakfast, we shall start our trip to Lahaul valley, enroute visit Solang valley and enjoy breathtaking views while road journey to Atal tunnel. Visit the Atal tunnel, world’s longest highway tunnel above 10,000ft from sea level. Traverse this modern tunnel to find out that you had entered from the green Manali side and have come out to a barren land of Lahaul. After crossing Chandra bridge above Chandra river, the tributary of Chenab river, you will pass through Sissu nursery and Sissu village. Continue moving towards Keylong. You can get clicked at Tandi Sangam, the confluence o Chandra and Bhaga rivers, which form Chenab river. You can go till Tupchiling Gompa above Tandi. Just 7km ahead is Keylong. You have an option to stay and Keylong or Jispa. Jispa is little beyond Keylong towards Leh.
- Day 4: Keylong/Jispa – Sightseeing either baralacha pass or sinkula pass- Today is a day for your adventurous drive towards baralacha pass. First you will drive through a 350m-long Darcha bridge at Darcha, the longest bridge on Manali-Leh highway. Take a small halt at Deepak Tal, a small lake and move further to Zingzingbar after crossing Patseo. After taking selfie with Suraj Tal lake, a few minutes uphill drive will take you to Baralacha pass at altitude of 16,050ft.enjoy the view on the pass. Now have some lunch at the pass, and continue your backjourney to jispa. The road surrounded by snow-capped high peaks will keep you spellbound, and get or an overnight stay. Spend a night in tents or hotel rooms 11,000ft from sea level. jispa, is a perfect place for star-gazing.
- Day 5: Jispa/Keylong-udaipur-manali Today after enjoying some time at jispa,after breakfast trace back the same route till Keylong). Explore the region, have some walk along the scenic roads, today we shall go towards Udaipur along Kelong-Kishtwar road. You will pass through many beautiful Lahauli villages. Visit Trilokinath (Triloknath) temple at Trilokinath village and move to Udaipur, a small but major town of the valley. Visit ancient Mrikula Devi temple and head back to Tandi where you can have your lunch. Later return back to Manali for night stay.
- Day 6: Manali – Delhi Finally, the time has come to bid adieu. You have some time to spend in Manali as your Volvo boarding time is 4pm. Our taxi will drop you at Volvo stand before 4pm. The bus will drop you in Delhi next morning. Your memorable trip to Manali and Lahaul concludes here.
